Import and convert Excel or CSV files into Sheets

I. Intro

Availability: Feishu Drive and My Document Library are in beta and are not yet available to all users.

You can import locally saved Excel (.xls or .xlsx format) or CSV (.csv format) files as Sheets or convert Excel or CSV files on Feishu Drive into Sheets.

II. Steps

Import a local Excel or CSV file as Sheets

Open any Feishu document, and click the + icon in the upper-right corner > Upload or Import > Import as Docs. Choose the storage location, select the import format (Microsoft Excel or CSV), and select Sheets as the target format.

Convert Excel or CSV files on Feishu Drive into Sheets

Open the Excel or CSV file on Feishu Drive and hover over the ··· icon > Convert to Sheet. Alternatively, you can click Edit > Convert to Feishu Sheets.

Note: Converting files in Wiki or My Document Library is not supported. You need to move the files to Drive first before they can be converted.

What's the import limit?

Up to 2 million cells and 500 columns can be imported into a single sheet.

The import size limit varies based on the file format and the platform you're using to import:

.xls or .xlsx format: From the Feishu app, up to 20 MB can be imported. From the web, up to 800 MB can be imported, of which up to 20 MB can be non-image content.

Other formats: Up to 20 MB, regardless of the platform you're using.

What elements or formats cannot be imported or are not fully compatible after they're imported?

The following elements or formats cannot be imported or some details may be lost after being imported:

Charts: Histogram, ring, sunburst, box plot, Tree map, 3D column, 3D line, 3D bar, 3D surface, 3D area, 3D pie, surface, bubble, waterfall, pareto, sparkline, area, stock, compound pie, map

Styles and formatting: Diagonal; double underline; border settings - non-thin border lines; data formats - custom formats with [], text rotation, superscript/subscript; accounting specific single/double underline; applied table formats; text wrapping - indented text

Data: Unsupported formulas, Cross-table calculations, nested cross-table reference formulas, slicer, custom formulas in data validation, row/column grouping, macros, aata protection

What do I do if importing to Sheets fails?

Click the red exclamation mark to check the reason for the failure, and try again after resolving the issue identified. Then, go to the Feishu app, click your profile photo, select Settings > Internal Settings > Get Configuration. Restart the Feishu app and import again.

What do I do if there is garbled text after importing a spreadsheet into Sheets?

If the local file format is .csv, change the format to .xlsx before importing. If the problem persists, you can contact Support.

Can .ppt files be imported into Sheets?

No, you can only add the .ppt file as an attachment to the spreadsheet.

What is the difference between Sheets and Excel files uploaded to Feishu Drive?

The Excel file uploaded to the Drive is the source file, to which you can make edits through WPS. Sheets supports more edit options and online collaboration and data analysis features. For more details on Sheets, see Get started with Sheets.
