Use LAN to transfer files
🔖
Note: Using LAN to transfer files in a chat is only supported on the Feishu desktop app.
When two members on the same LAN send files that are no smaller than 20 MB, Feishu will try to establish a channel between the two parties over the LAN for a faster transfer.
  1. After the channel is established, the sender can click Transfer using LAN.

  1. The recipient needs to click Accept and select the download location to start the transfer over LAN.

Note: When you transfer files over a LAN network for the first time on a Windows computer, the transfer may be blocked by the firewall. While the transfer is being identified, all buttons will be unresponsive. After a certain period of time, the files will be sent as an offline transfer.
The sender can check whether Feishu is allowed in the inbound rule settings of the Windows firewall. If it is not, set Feishu as allowed, and try LAN file transfer again.
III. FAQs
What is the maximum file size that can be transferred through a chat?
100 GB.
What is the maximum folder size that can be transferred through a chat?
100 GB. The folder cannot have more than ten levels of subfolders, and the number of subfolders cannot exceed 100.
Why can't I use LAN to transfer files?
  • Make sure the file being sent is not smaller than 20 MB, and both the sender and recipient are online at the same time.
  • The recipient needs to click Accept. If they click Reject, it may cause the LAN transmission to fail.
Can I delete the files and folders I sent in a chat?
  • You can delete messages containing files and folders you've sent and received, but they will still be visible to other members in the chat.
  • If you don't want other members to see a file or folder message, you can recall the message within the time limit set by the administrator.
  • You can clean up message files to free up storage space occupied by files and folders you have sent in chats. However, message files you delete cannot be viewed or downloaded.
