Feishu's Jira Master allows you to follow up on issues in Jira and manage your own projects.
I. Function Overview
Jira is a project and issue tracking tool developed by Atlassian. It is widely used in software issue tracking and agile project management.
Jira Master is an important tool for you to stay updated with project dynamics and improve project management efficiency.
With Jira Master, you can complete the following tasks without leaving Feishu:
- •View your Jira issues list, browse by issue types, and keep up to date with issues
- •Create, modify and share Jira issues
- •Quickly create Jira issues in chats through the message shortcut and the "+" menu
- •Set up custom notifications to receive personalized Jira updates at any time
- •Add Jira Master bot to group chats, configure dynamic notifications for groups, and quickly create issues by sending instructions
Note: You can also insert Jira Filter into Docs to present and automatically update data in the form of tables, as well as use sorting, filtering and grouping functions to efficiently manage data in Docs. For the specific processes, please refer to Docs | Insert a Jira Filter into Docs. Jira Master supports both Feishu mobile and desktop.
II. Condition of use
Before you start, make sure that your company administrator has completed the configuration for the app. According to the version of Jira you are using, check the corresponding help docs:
- •Workplace | Set up Jira Master (Software Server version)
- •Workplace | Set up Jira Master (Software Cloud version)
You can install Jira Master from Feishu App Directory. If you see a notification that Jira Master is not enabled or installed in your organization, contact your administrator to enable it. Note: To use Jira Master, make sure you already have a Jira account.
III. Procedure
- 1. How to use Jira Master on Feishu desktop
- •Connect to your Jira account
First, authorize Jira Master to access your Jira account.
Search and open the Jira app in Feishu Workplace, click Authorize Now. Follow the prompts on the page to log in to your Jira account and allow Jira Master to use the necessary permissions to complete the authorization.
- •View issue and check notifications
View issue list
Click Issue to check recently viewed issues.
Use the drop-down list to filter issues unresolved and assigned to me, issues reported by me or issues watched by me to check issue status and priority.
The custom filters you saved in Jira for Web can also be displayed in this drop-down list.
As shown in the image below, you can set the filtering rule as issued unresolved using JQL and click Save as, and then it will be displayed in the drop-down list. Check notifications
Click Notifications, and you can view updates of issues and learn the progress of issues that are currently being resolved.
Click an issue to view details in the sidebar. Here you can edit, comment, forward the issue or open it in the browser.
Select Forward in the bottom navigation bar to send information about the issue to your Feishu contacts or groups. After receiving the message card, click View Details to view details of the issue in the chat.
Jira Master provides multiple ways to create issues.
Create in Jira Master app
Click Create Issue, fill in Project, Issue Type and Summary, and click Create.
After creating an issue, you will receive a notification in Feishu, and the issue will appear on the page of Issue and Notifications where you can view or edit the details.
Create in chat
Through the message shortcut in chats, you can directly create one or more messages as issues. In Feishu chats, you can move your mouse over a message and click ... (More actions) - select Jira Master, and fill in relevant information in the sidebar to create an issue.
You can also click the + menu in chats - select Jira Master to create an issue in the sidebar.
In Jira Master app, you can configure notifications to receive alerts in Feishu when your concerned issues change. Click Settings in the upper right corner to open the settings sidebar, and select when you want to receive notifications.
If you enable open links in browser option, issue details will be opened in browser after you click an issue.
- 2. How to use Jira Master on Feishu app
- •Connect to your Jira account
First of all, authorize Jira Master to access your Jira account. The authorization of your account is needed only once. If you have completed the authorization on desktop, there is no need to operate here. Steps on mobile are the same as those on desktop. Search and enter the Jira Master app in Workplace, follow the prompts on the page to log in to your Jira account and allow Jira Master to use the necessary permissions to complete the authorization.
- •View issues and check notifications
View project list
Click Project at the bottom bar. You can view relevant issues of one certain project by clicking Search, Quick filters or Status.
View issue list
Click Issues at the bottom, and you can view issues through filters.
Click an issue to view more details and to unwatch or comment.
View notices
Click Notices to view operations chronologically.
Click a notice to view details, unwatch or comment.
Select an issue in the issue list to enter the details page. Click fields to edit.
Click the Watching button at the bottom to watch or unwatch the issue.
Click the Comment button to add comments on the issue.
To share the issue with your Feishu contact or groups, click the ··· button in the upper left corner and select Share to send information about the issue.
Create in Jira Master app
Click + at the bottom to create a new issue. Fill in required information in the Create page, click Create, and later you will receive a notification.
Create in chats
Through the message shortcut in chats, you can directly create one or more messages as issues.
In Feishu chats, press a single message or select multiple messages to evoke message actions, select Shortcuts - Jira Master, you will enter the Create page to create an issue according to the selected messages.
You can also click the + menu in chats - select Jira Master to create an issue.
Click Settings to select when you would like to be notified.
- 3. Use Jira Master bot in group chats
You can create a group to include relevant members of a project to keep yourself updated with any request changes, version releases and other notifications on the Jira project in Feishu. You can also choose to add Jira Master bot to separate groups and configure the filter to receive the notifications of your interest only.
To add Jira Master bot to a group chat, click Settings - BOTS - Add Bot. Search Jira and click Add.
- •Configure a group notification
You may have multiple groups and need to receive notifications of different projects in different groups.
The following describes how to configure project notifications, types of notifications received such as tasks, defects, etc., and the scenarios for receiving notifications such as creating new issues in projects, receiving notifications in groups when the assignee changes, etc.
After adding the Jira Master bot in a group, you will see a welcome card. Click Settings to open the group settings page of Jira Master Admin.
If you don't have permission, you need to clean the cookies of your browser and refresh the page.
You can use filter or JQL to search for the issues you want to receive notifications for.
To use filter, click Search by Filter and fill in the required information in the Set Project Notification window, and then click Save.
To use JQL, click Search by JQL and fill in the JQL query in the Set Project Notification window to filter notifications.
Instructions for JQL query construction:
Please note that the notifications subscribed to by groups do not support the JQL functions that are required to be called by the current user. For example, currentLogin(), currentUser().
- •In the Jira for Web homepage, go to the Filter page - Search page. Select the desired filter criterion on the page, click Advanced and the JQL query will be displayed and ready for copy.
- •If you wish to receive the notifications of existing Kanban boards in Jira, open the target board in Jira for Web, and click Kanban board - Configure at the top left corner on the page, then copy the JQL query after the Filter query.
- •Create an issue quickly in a group chat
Before creating an issue, you need to configure the issue template first.
In a group chat, enter @Jira Master create
, and then click Settings.
You will be redirected to the Create template page of the Web client. Configure the template following the instructions on the page.
In a group chat, you can enter @Jira Master create <Issue name> @<Group member>
to create a new issue and set the @mentioned member as the assignee of the issue.
Note: If you have @mentioned more than one member, the last @mentioned member will be the assignee.
In a group chat, enter @Jira Master settings
, click Settings to go to the Web client to configure Jira Master bot in the group.
