What's your regular response after you receive a message in a conversation? Type to reply, send an emoji, forward it right then, or read but don't reply (not recommended though)?
In Feishu, everything becomes easy, but never humdrum.
After you receive a message in a conversation, you can open the action menu of the message immediately, select a desired feature and convert the message content to a note, a to-do reminder, or a kanban task.
The good news is that the action menu of conversation messages is now available to custom apps. Welcome to try it out to customize shortcuts for your conversation messages, so as to diversify your conversation message menu.
. What is a message shortcut?
Messages shortcuts are designed and developed by apps. With this feature, you can write a message you have received to an app without leaving the current conversation window, saving the efforts of copying and pasting the text and switching between windows.
Locate the desired message in a conversation, and open the message action menu. Then you will see all the shortcuts currently available. Select a desired shortcut, and then you can open the app in the sidebar of the conversation window to perform the shortcut.
Message shortcuts enable you to easily manage all the complexities in your daily work.
- •'Create task' of a project management app: When your leader assigns you a task in the conversation, you can directly convert the message into a to-do task and add it to your kanban.
- •'Set reminder' of a reminder app: When your colleague reminds you to prepare the materials for a report but you are still busy with something else, you can directly convert this message into a to-do reminder to alert you in 30 minutes.
- •'New note' of a note app: If a customer has shared their experience of using a product in the conversation, which is quite informative and you are quite inspired, you can open the cloud note in the conversation window and create a 'Customer feedback' section to include the customer's feedback.
. Integrate custom apps
Message shortcuts are now available to custom apps. If your app has a gadget or webpage version, you can easily create message shortcuts for your app. For detailed integration procedure, see How to create message shortcuts for your app.
Apart from regular shortcuts such as quick creation of tasks and notes as well as reminder settings, what are other interesting applications of the message shortcuts? Check out these interesting cases for some inspirations.
- 1.Batch action on multiple messages for easier feedback collection
The message shortcuts support users in selecting multiple messages for a unified action. If you have a feedback collection app, maybe you'd like to try this.
For example, when a customer describes their issues using a product, the customer service specialist often needs to ask questions to collect necessary information such as the time, background, issue description, version number, and user ID. Such information is usually scattered in different messages, and the specialist may need to thumb through the message history and copy and paste the messages one by one.
With the feedback collection tool integrated to message shortcuts, the customer service can check all related messages to import them to the app at one time, without the need to manually copy the information by referring to the message history, or take and upload screenshots. Moreover, this approach can also prevent omissions of details. You no longer need to be afraid of customers who are keen on using the Enter key to divide their sentences.
- 2.Company album and emojis to bring your team members closer
Apart from retrieving message text, message shortcuts also support retrieving images, which reminds us of a company album app. After a team building activity ends, members always enjoy sharing some interesting or funny photos they have taken in the group chat. As an able organizer, you only need to select all the image messages and open the album app via the message shortcut to save these photos to your activity album. In the past, you may need to download the images to a local drive one by one and then upload them to the company album one by one again, which is both effort and time consuming. The message shortcuts put an end to this inefficiency.
If the photos also come with some interesting, rarely seen emojis, that would be fabulous. Select photos, and open the emoji generator app via message shortcuts. Then add the text and stickers, and an emoji package exclusive to your team is ready!
- 3.Use message shortcuts in external chats
The message shortcuts are not limited to serving internal teams, but you can use it in external conversation groups as well to add convenience to the teams that often need to communicate with external customers. For example, when a potential customer has provided some important information in a conversation, the sales specialist can use the message's 'Create follow-up record' shortcut to update the information into the sales system.
